South Metro Hearth launched their latest group member final month, and it’s a three-month-old Golden Retriever that will probably be educated to grow to be an emotional assist canine!
South Metro Hearth launched him on their Fb web page on November 23 and wrote, “We’re excited to introduce the most recent member of the division – Hal, brief for Halligan. Hal arrived this week and has already been an enormous hit with everybody who has met him.”
Hal is a three-month-old Golden Retriever. He was donated to the South Metro Hearth by the Soldier 6‘s program, a non-profit group that gives service canine to officers and troopers.
Hal will probably be educated to be an emotional assist canine and assist South Metro Hearth’s firefighters “take care of the cumulative stress of the job”. And he’ll spend the subsequent 12 months getting licensed as a service canine.
And Hal is already making a huge effect within the group! South Metro Hearth’s Assistant Hearth Chief and Hal’s handler, Terry Johnson, tells West St. Paul Reader, “There’s been a handful of firefighters already which might be keyed in and loving on the canine. They arrive in straight away and so they’ll sit in a chair and simply pet Hal for 10 minutes and hang around, throw the ball.”
“If it helps one firefighter, I feel it’s value it,” Johnson says.
